Coronavirus and beyond: soft skills for university learning and research

Monday & Tuesday, 1st & 2nd of March at 0900 CET in Zoom

“Because of the recession caused by COVID and resulting budget cuts, it is more important than ever to consider soft skills programs. There is an even greater need for them now than before the pandemic.

Jack Phillips, among the Top 50 World Leaders in Coaching.

Skills that are transferable, personal, and interpersonal such as teamwork, empathy, creativity, communication, and complex problem-solving, are increasingly gaining traction within the contemporary business and education sectors. The current pandemic is driving an austerity argument, raising questions around investment in soft skills development and their value for research and learning at universities.

This webinar over two half-days in March 2021 targets university students in Europe, Israel and all over the world. It brings together recognized speakers who will present to students ways to leverage their skills through soft skills development and how to become better professionals through them. Underpinning this webinar is the vision that soft skills are a bridge between the current situation and what lies beyond, as society recovers. Students will be given the opportunity to work together to identify and practice soft skills, increasing their employability in where these skills are sought after.

Topics that will be addressed at the webinar:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills during and after the pandemic
  • Lessons learnt and new perspectives for university students during the pandemic
  • How to learn online
  • How the pandemic is an opportunity for internationalization for university students

The webinar will also offer 1-to-1 sessions for communication skills in academic English for university students belonging to the iPEN consortium.
